As much as I love Sydney, it does seem that Melbourne seems to be the happening place of health sometimes. From the gorgeous keep it cleaner girls to brands like matcha maiden and a foodie’s dream café ( sos coffee pancakes please.) I was so lucky to get to speak to both of these girls. After having spoken to Steph I was then also lucky enough to chat to Laura. If you follow this energy bean on social media you will see her casually going for 10 km runs, pumping out countless burpees and kettlebells, and whipping up awesome food in the kitchen.
Here is what she had to say about healthy living!
1. Hi Laura, thanks so much for taking the time to tell me a bit about you and your health journey. Can you tell me a bit about how and when you first started becoming interested in health and fitness?
Thank you so much for taking the time to interview me! I have been really lucky to have grown up in a very healthy and active family. My passion for healthy cooking started with my family and then got a lot more serious when I started my blog 3 years ago and I started to share my recipes on there. I was so humbled people actually wanted to try my recipes and since then my passion has continued to grow. When I see people sharing our Keep it Cleaner recipes it makes my day.
- You and Steph have just created you keep it cleaner brand, can you tell me a bit about it and what inspired you to create it?
Keep it Cleaner came from our e book Keep it Clean. We had such an incredible response from it we wanted to create a place where we could share more recipes and workouts and interact more with our audience.
- What is one piece of advice you would give readers in terms of health and fitness and keeping a good balance. You obviously have to think about this a lot studying law and personal training and modelling!!
Balance is essential for my sanity. My biggest advice would be to not be too hard on yourself and to also value your time out just as much as you value your work time. You would never cancel a meeting with a client so why should you cancel your time? My workouts are my ‘me time’ and I schedule them in just like I do my meetings- that way I won’t cancel them.
- Lastly, can you give me an idea of your day on a plate and possibly share a favourite yummy and nutritious recipe you love to make at home?
My day on a plate:
Breakfast: 2 eggs with 1/2 an avocado, handful of spinach and smoked salmon.
Lunch: Lean protein with a big leafy salad
Snack: Big green smoothie
Dinner: Always different but usually this is a stir fry or grilled fish with roasted veggies.
After dinner: Peppermint tea and some dark choc (I can’t live without chocolate!)
One of my favourite recipes is my healthy Bliss Balls- they are so easy and so yummy!
1 cup of nuts (I love to use almonds)
1 cup of dried fruit (I love to use dates)
1/2 cup of coconut flakes
1/4 cup of vegan protein powder
2 heaped tablespoons of raw cacao powder
