It is so hard to find a store bought granola these days that isn’t full of sugar and preservatives. Even in health food stores I still come across such sugary granolas and there is no way you should be beginning the day with something that is spiking your sugar levels when you are starting the morning. This granola has very little sweetener and is my go to for anything – I love having it on top of smoothies for brekkie. You can add whatever nuts, seeds or superfoods you like and can enjoy knowing you are having a healthy breakfast !




2.5 cups rough oats

1 tbsp rice malt

3 tbsp coconut oil

2 tbsp chia

1 cup mixed nuts

2 tbsp pepitas

1/2 cup coconut

2 tsp cinnamon

2 tsp turmeric(optional)

1 tsp vanilla

1/4 cup almond butter


  1. Preheat the oven to 170 degrees celsius
  2. Melt the coconut oil, rice malt syrup and almond butter in a bowl and stir together , placing all other ingredients in a seperate bowl
  3. Combine the wet and dry ingredients until all the mixture is damp
  4. Lay on a baking tray lined with baking paper
  5. Bake for about 45 minutes  turning every 10 minutes or when the top looks a bit golden give it a toss so the raw bit underneath can also cook
  6. Remove from oven and leave to cool for 15 mins and store in the fridge or cupboard
