Spicy BBQ Prawn Skewers & Crispy Sesame Brussel Sprouts

Summer weather is upon us in Australia! (YAY!) So time to throw anything and everything on the BBQ. These prawn skewers and crispy brussels are a delicious, fresh and light lunch or dinner, or accompaniment to a big summer bbq … the best! They are super easy – I prefer doing the brussels in the oven as they roast all the way through but you could definitely throw them onto the bbq and chargrill them as well if you prefer with the prawns. 

Ingredients (serves 4)

8 prawn skewers

2 tbsp olive oil

1 tbsp chilli flakes

1 tbsp crushed garlic

2 cups chopped brussel sprouts

2 tbsp olive oil

2 tbsp sesame seeds

rock salt & pepper

lemon to serve


  1. Place olive oil, chilli , salt, pepper & garlic in a bowl and leave the prawns to marinate ( ideally a few hours but depends on how much time you have)
  2. Preheat oven to 180 degrees celsius
  3. Place brussels in a tray with the olive oil, sesame seeds, salt and pepper
  4. Bake for 30 minutes or until golden and crispy
  5. Turn on the BBQ and grill the prawn skewers for a few minutes each side until nicely charred
  6. Serve with some lemon juice and voila !
