Why scoopitup??

Almost every new cafe opening nowadays has gluten free, dairy free, healthy and vegan options. Supermarket health aisles are doubling and our instagram feeds are filled with raw treats and smoothie bowls.

However , labels such as “healthy”, “raw” or “clean” treats can be deceiving.

Many of the raw slices, bliss balls and healthy baked goods are extremely high in sugar. While a small amount of natural sugars are good, one seeing of these contains up to 4-5 dates a serve. That is 22 grams of sugar!

The reason I created these treats is because I wanted to be able to consume “healthy” treats that are actually healthy. My treats contain at most 1/2 a date each,(2.5g sugar) and in my slices and baking I use minimal amounts of rice malt syrup which helps to stabilise blood sugars and avoid the spike many natural sweeteners use.
